Deputy Director Rawalpindi Food (FS&CPD), Rawalpindi Division Sardar Saif Ullah Khan Joiya,

In regions such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum areas historically plagued by flour shortages residents are now experiencing reliable access to sufficient quantities of standard flour at regulated rates. This marks a significant improvement over previous years, when rampant smuggling of wheat and flour frequently disrupted supplies, leading to artificial shortages, inflated prices, and widespread hard- ship for consumers who struggled to obtain even basic amounts. Through tireless efforts and strategic interventions, Sardar Saifullah Khan Joyia has worked around the clock to curb these illegal activities. By strengthening monitoring, enforcement, and coordination within the department, smuggling operations have been effectively halted. This has stabilized the supply chain, prevented hoarding and unauthorized diversion of stocks, and ensured that flour reaches households without unnecessary price hikes. The results are evident: people in these districts no longer face the acute difficulties of the past. Flour is available in adequate volumes, adhering to quality standards and sold at the officially prescribed prices. This success aligns closely with CM Maryam Nawaz’s broader initiatives to provide affordable and quality essentials, particularly during challenging economic periods. Recent provincial efforts, including subsidized sale points and price controls, have further reinforced these gains. Local communities are expressing appreciation for the Punjab govern- ment’s performance under CM Maryam Nawaz, crediting proactive administrative measures for breaking the cycle of exploitation by smug- glers and profiteers. Sardar Saif Ullah Khan Joiya’s consistent perform- ance stands out as a key factor in delivering these tangible benefits to the people of northern Punjab districts. His commitment exemplifies how focused leadership and diligent execution at the departmental level can translate high- level policy directives into real relief for citizens, fostering greater trust in governance and contributing to overall food security in the region.
